About this guide
An independent guide to the gardens you can visit across the UK, free and paid.
What this site is
gardens.org.uk lists gardens that are open to the public in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Each garden has its own page with a summary, the entry price or whether it is free, membership options, opening times, dog rules, highlights and directions. The aim is to help you find a garden worth visiting near you, or plan a day out around one.
The guide includes both free gardens, such as botanic gardens, Royal Parks and Victorian city gardens, and paid entry gardens, from RHS and National Trust gardens to independent and family owned gardens.
How listings are researched
Each garden page is written from the garden's own website or the website of the organisation that runs it. Prices, opening times and other figures are only included when the garden publishes them, and every page lists its sources and the date it was last checked.
Gardens change their prices each season and some close for restoration or in winter. If you spot something out of date, please get in touch.
What counts as free
A garden is listed as free when you can walk into the main garden without buying a ticket. Some free gardens charge for parking, glasshouses, special exhibitions or events, and this is noted on the garden's page.
Independence
gardens.org.uk is not connected to any of the gardens, charities or organisations listed. Listings are not paid for. Links to gardens are ordinary links and do not earn a commission.
